Samanwayam: honouring the people who built GCKA
Our Silver Jubilee brought together the “Founding Architects” and the “Future Builders” for an evening of stories, dinner and live music.
The theme was “Vintage & Vision”: relive, rejoice, reconnect. Every past and present leader was invited to reunite and share the stories that shaped us, with families and spouses joining the celebration and the band Tunes of Feathers performing live.

GCKA's youth are an inspiring group of teenagers whose enthusiasm and energy earned them a formal place at the heart of the association. The Youth Forum volunteers across the Triangle, runs its own events, raises funds and elects a Youth Board of Directors every year.

Twice a year
Adopt-A-Highway
Every spring and fall, the Youth Board leads volunteers aged 12+ on a roadside clean-up near Kelly Road Park, Apex — with parents as chaperones and volunteer hours recorded for every student.
Weekly classes
Malayalam education
Since the early 2010s, volunteer teachers have taught children to read, write and speak Malayalam — first in libraries and Bond Park, then at a permanent venue.

Youth-led, youth-run
The Youth Forum has elected a youth board every year since 2011, and in 2024 organized GCKA's first Youth Day entirely on its own.
When it matters
Emergency support
Through its Emergency Fund activities, GCKA supports members of our community in times of need — ‘support one another in times of need’, in the words of our President.

In 2011 the annual GCKA member directory, published at the end of every year, was replaced with a full-fledged magazine — increasing the emphasis on literature and art. Carolina Malayali is written, illustrated and designed by our own community.
